Het licht gaat uit in vensters van de boerenhoving,
Bij de teloorgang van het oude stamboekdier.
Herinner jij je Herman nog de superstier?
Zijn op het beeldscherm uitgezonden zaadberoving?
 
Geen prinsenhuwelijk, geen plattelandsverloving,
Geen praal van woorden, hol gelach noch goede sier,
Het einde van de rit en lege kruiken bier,
De rode wijn biedt soelaas, uitweg en verdoving.
 
Gerooid aardappelveld, geroot het vezelvlas.
Armoedige gezichtjes in een hut van plaggen.
Een roestend gevelschild der boeren bijstand kas,
 
Het land verzopen en kapot. Halfstok de vlaggen,
Er hangt een muffe geur van vochtige matras,
Van meeldauw op tot stof verstorven spinnenraggen.
